Sr Platform Engineer, Network

Job Summary:

We are looking for a Senior GCP Platform Engineer with expertise in networking to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing network infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of networking concepts and extensive experience with GCP networking services such as Google Interconnect, VPCs, Firewalls, and network security.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, deploy, and maintain network infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to meet the organization's requirements for scalability, performance, and security.
  • Implement and manage Google Interconnect and other connectivity solutions to establish reliable and high-performance network connections between on-premises data centres and GCP.
  • Configure and manage Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs), subnets, routes, and network policies to ensure efficient network traffic management and isolation.
  • Design and implement network security controls, including firewalls, VPNs, and identity and access management (IAM) policies, to protect GCP resources from unauthorized access
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot network-related issues to ensure optimal performance and availability of GCP services and applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including DevOps, Security, and Infrastructure teams, to design and implement network solutions that align with business requirements and security best practices.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior engineers and team members on networking best practices, GCP networking services, and troubleshooting techniques.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in network engineering or infrastructure engineering roles.
  • 3+ years of experience working on a public cloud (GCP, Azure, AWS) with a minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) networking services.
  • Proficiency in configuring and managing Google Interconnect, VPCs, subnets, routes, and network security controls on GCP.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, BGP, and MPLS.
  • Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools, such as Wireshark, TCPdump, and Google Cloud Monitoring.
  • experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform
  • Certifications such as Google Professional Cloud Network Engineer or Google Professional Cloud Architect are a plus.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Compensation, Benefits and Duration

Minimum Compensation: USD 48,000
Maximum Compensation: USD 168,000
Compensation is based on actual experience and qualifications of the candidate. The above is a reasonable and a good faith estimate for the role.
