Role summary

Role Overview

Working alongside an experienced leadership team, you’ll be a key member of the Picasso Design & Engineering group, developing high-performance luminaires from concept through production. This role blends strong design instincts with solid mechanical understanding, ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership and turning ideas into real, manufacturable products.

In our fast-moving environment, you’ll be involved across the full product lifecycle: research, sketching, CAD modeling, prototyping, testing, and launch. You’ll help shape not just the products, but how we build them.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads new and custom product ideation, research, and concept development
  • Develops designs through sketches, mockups, prototypes, and detailed 3D CAD models
  • Applies Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles
  • Creates technical drawings, assemblies, and bills of materials
  • Works closely with engineering, production, sales, and marketing
  • Supports prototyping, testing, validation, and risk analysis
  • Researches materials and fabrication methods to drive innovation
  • Assists with product launches, renderings, and documentation
  • Helps build scalable product development processes as we grow

Education & Experience

  • Degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience developing architectural lighting products

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Inventor or SolidWorks, KeyShot (or similar), AutoCAD, and Adobe/Microsoft Suites
  • Strong 2D/3D visualization skills
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes (sheet metal, extrusion, die casting, CNC, 3D printing)
  • Knowledge of LED, drivers, controls, or lighting performance testing is an asset
