You will help advance a mission-driven search platform that surfaces mission-critical information for decision makers. You will partner with ML, product, and engineering stakeholders to improve retrieval quality and latency, delivering measurable impact for the organization. This is a Remote role.
Here’s How You’ll Make an Impact on the Team
- Design and adapt the technical strategy for search across the product platform, including full-text search, vector databases, LLMs, NLP, and relevance algorithms
- Improve search latency and relevance through architecture and implementation improvements
- Collaborate with product engineers, designers, and mission strategists to translate user needs into data-informed search innovations
- Research and apply emerging technologies and best practices to improve index quality, freshness, and retrieval performance
Here’s What You’ll Need to Be Successful in This Role
- 7+ years of experience in backend software development
- 3+ years of experience in search, information retrieval, or related fields
- Strong expertise in information retrieval, NLP, and machine learning, including indexing, ranking, query parsing, tokenization, and vector search
- Hands-on experience with at least one major search engine (e.g., Elasticsearch, OpenSearch)
- Familiarity with search evaluation frameworks (e.g., precision, recall, NDCG)
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills
- U.S. Person status (required to access U.S.-only data systems)
Pay Range
$150,000 - $215,000/year
