About the Role
We’re looking for a Data Engineer with a product mindset—someone who enjoys spending time on backend and data management work, while at the same time caring about how our rich data set can be leveraged for business value. You’ll work closely with our cloud platform team and full-stack developers to make sure data is in the right place at the right time for internal and external stakeholders. We value engineers who think beyond “just code” to understand why a feature exists, how it’s used, and how it can be better.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and maintain features with a focus on data management and data access:
- Backend: Go (Golang), Python
- Infrastructure: PostgreSQL, AWS S3, Kafka
- Data Warehousing: Snowflake, Redshift (or similar)
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to identify opportunities to realize value from our data set
- Advocate for good data management practices, including maintainable schema design
- Work with stakeholders across the organization who have important data to contribute to our growing data lake
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
- Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and roadmap planning
- Optimize performance and cost
What We’re Looking For
- Solid experience with technology in our stack, or equivalent systems
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently
- Comfortable working in a collaborative, agile environment
- Passion for delivering value “behind the scenes”
- Adaptable and comfortable with ambiguity—you can adjust quickly when priorities shift, and you’re able to make progress even when some details are still taking shape
Bonus Points For
- Experience with AWS, Terraform (or other Infrastructure-as-Code tools)
- Hands-on experience with scripting and coding using Python, Bash
- Familiarity with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment practices
- Experience working on products that span mobile, hardware, and web, especially those involving cameras, LiDAR, or other sensors
Why Join Planitar?
You'll be part of a supportive and fast-moving engineering culture, working on real-world products that blend hardware and software in innovative ways. Your leadership will help shape how our teams build, deliver, and grow our platform.
