Role summary

We are seeking a Platform Engineer to lead the design and delivery of a developer-first platform and external-facing APIs within the Financial Services/FinTech industry. This role involves owning the end-to-end developer journey, from onboarding to tooling, and partnering with product, engineering, and commercial teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in backend or full-stack software engineering, with proven experience building APIs from scratch and a deep understanding of API design principles. A data-driven approach to iteration and optimization, along with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, is essential for success in this fast-paced, high-growth environment.

New York City (Hybrid - 3/4 days on-site) OR Remote (If based in Texas or Miami)

Day Rate:
$60 – $100 per hour

The Role:

  • Lead the design and delivery of a best-in-class, developer-first platform and experience
  • Build and shape external-facing APIs that enable customers to create innovative products
  • Own the end-to-end developer journey, including onboarding, documentation, and tooling
  • Partner closely with product, engineering, and commercial teams to deliver impactful solutions
  • Gather and act on feedback from external developers to continuously improve usability
  • Drive the strategy and roadmap for developer experience across the platform
  • Take a data-driven approach to test, iterate, and optimise developer engagement
  • Advocate for a developer-first mindset across the organisation

Skills Needed:

  • Strong background as a software engineer (backend or full-stack)
  • Proven experience building external-facing APIs from scratch
  • Experience working on developer platforms, tools, or SDKs
  • Deep understanding of API design, versioning, and integrations
  • Ability to translate developer needs into product improvements
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience in fast-paced, high-growth environments
