
Software Engineer (Service Now)
Role summary

What You'll Do
As a member of the ServiceNow Experience Enablement team within the Platform Product Family in Workspace Services, you will play a key role in shaping how colleagues across the enterprise experience and interact with the ServiceNow platform. This team is responsible for stewarding and enabling the effective use of ServiceNow experience layers—driving consistency, efficiency, and meaningful improvements across a rapidly evolving organization.
A successful engineer on this team is highly collaborative and customer‑focused, with the ability to translate both technical and business strategies into effective platform solutions. You bring a strong sense of ownership, operate with a security‑first mindset, and are comfortable working across internal teams and external partners—holding vendors accountable when needed. Curiosity and a willingness to continuously learn and grow new skills are essential.
What you’ll do:
In this role, you will support and execute a broad range of initiatives that span platform engineering, experience design, and enablement. You will collaborate closely with product teams, business partners, and vendors to deliver scalable, secure, and intuitive experiences across portals, workspaces, analytics, and mobile. This position also offers a clear opportunity to grow into more senior engineering and leadership responsibilities as the platform continues to expand in scope and impact.
This role requires hands‑on experience developing and supporting solutions on the ServiceNow platform. You will work across a variety of technologies and components, including:
- Client‑side scripting and scoped application development
- Portal, workspace, and experience layer development including platform analytics
- Automated test development and quality enablement
- Integrations using APIs and spokes across enterprise systems including error handling
You will regularly work with tools and capabilities such as ServiceNow Flow Designer, UI Builder, Platform Analytics, Portal, and Mobile, along with integrations to platforms including xMatters, LeanIX, Azure, AWS, and other enterprise systems via APIs.
Who You Are
- Associate's or bachelor's degree (preference in a computer science, technology, engineering or math-related field or equivalent experience) and 3+ years work experience or equivalent experience
- High-level problem solving skills
- Extensive use of JavaScript and integrations via APIs to solutions/systems
- Technical leadership designing, configuring, developing, troubleshooting and implementing baseline and custom applications using the ServiceNow platform and other technologies. Understand and make well-reasoned design decisions and trade-offs.

Salary Range Information
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

$85000 - $165000 / year

The following locations are examples of market-specific salary ranges across different geographies. Candidates will be evaluated to determine the appropriate job level based on their skills and experience. Our offices are located in Des Moines, IA, Raleigh, NC, and Charlotte, NC. These offices offer a hybrid work arrangement otherwise we are open to other locations in a remote environment.

- Sr. Software Engineer I: $105,000 - $124,000 / year
- Des Moines, IA:
- Software Engineer III: $95,000 - $113,000 / year
- Sr. Software Engineer I: $116,000 - $138,000 / year
- Charlotte, NC:
- Software Engineer III: $95,000 - $113,000 / year
- Sr. Software Engineer I: $116,000 - $138,000 / year
- Chicago/Minneapolis:
- Software Engineer III: $104,000 - $125,000 / year
- Sr. Software Engineer I: $128,000 - $152,000 / year
- Los Angeles/New York City:
- Software Engineer III: $113,000 - $135,000 / year
- Sr. Software Engineer I: $140,000 - $165,000 / year
Time Off Program
Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

Software Engineer III: Associate's or bachelor's degree (preference in a computer science, technology, engineering or math-related field or equivalent experience) and 3+ years work experience or equivalent experience.
Sr. Software Engineer I: Associate's or bachelor's degree (preference in a computer science, technology, engineering or math-related field or equivalent experience) and 6+ years work experience or equivalent experience.
Work Environment
This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, Raleigh, NC, or Charlotte, NC). You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
