Senior Product Manager - Global Investment Banking Technology
Role summary
A Senior Product Manager is sought to lead the technology program for Global Investment Banking (GIB) deal lifecycle management. This leadership role involves direct management of a Business Analyst/Product Owner and accountability for the product roadmap across origination, execution, and lifecycle platforms. The position requires owning senior stakeholder relationships, translating business needs into a technology agenda, and driving delivery from requirements through to demo. The ideal candidate will possess 8+ years of experience in GIB technology product management or senior business analysis, a deep understanding of the GIB deal lifecycle, and proven ability to manage senior stakeholders. Agile delivery experience and strong capital markets literacy are essential.
About the Team
Our client is a major Canadian bank with a leading Global Investment Banking franchise. Their Banking & Data Analytics Technology group is responsible for the internal platforms that run the GIB division — deal lifecycle systems, origination and execution tooling, client coverage platforms, and the data infrastructure that connects them. The team operates at the centre of the bank's investment banking business and has direct exposure to senior front-office stakeholders. This is a high-impact, high-visibility environment where technology is treated as a genuine business enabler.
The Role
We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead the technology programme underpinning the Global Investment Banking deal lifecycle. This is a leadership role with direct management responsibility for a Business Analyst / Product Owner, and accountability for shaping and delivering the product roadmap across deal origination, execution, and lifecycle management platforms.
You will own the relationship with senior GIB stakeholders — including Managing Directors and coverage bankers — and be the driving force behind translating their business needs into a coherent, prioritised technology agenda. You will lead from requirements through to delivery and demo, and be expected to bring both strategic clarity and hands-on execution. This is not a role for someone who delegates the hard parts.
What You Will Do
Product Strategy & Roadmap
- Own the end-to-end product roadmap for GIB deal lifecycle technology — from origination and pitching through to execution, closing, and post-deal management
- Define and maintain a prioritised backlog that reflects business value, strategic direction, and delivery capacity
- Build and present business cases for new investment, working with technology leadership and GIB sponsors to secure alignment and funding
- Stay close to industry developments in investment banking technology and bring relevant insight and innovation into the roadmap
Stakeholder Leadership
- Act as the primary technology partner to GIB business leaders — MDs, coverage heads, and front-office teams — building trusted, enduring relationships
- Run structured discovery with business stakeholders to surface pain points, unmet needs, and strategic priorities across the deal lifecycle
- Communicate product decisions, trade-offs, and delivery status with clarity and confidence at senior levels
- Manage competing stakeholder demands diplomatically, maintaining alignment without losing pace
Delivery Leadership
- Lead a cross-functional delivery team — spanning business analysis, engineering, and QA — setting pace, maintaining standards, and clearing blockers across the full programme
- Partner with engineering leads to drive delivery through full SDLC — from requirements sign-off through build, UAT, and go-live
- Own the demo and release process — presenting new capabilities to the business and iterating based on feedback
- Identify delivery risks early, escalate with context, and drive resolution with a bias for action
What You Bring
Essential
- 8+ years of experience in product management or senior business analysis within Global Investment Banking technology
- Deep understanding of the GIB deal lifecycle — origination, pitching, mandate, execution, closing, and post-deal workflows
- Proven ability to manage and influence senior stakeholders including Managing Directors and front-office coverage teams
- Track record of owning and delivering complex technology programmes end-to-end — strategy through to live product
- Experience leading or mentoring junior product or BA team members
- Strong capital markets literacy — primary and secondary markets, deal structures, coverage models
- Excellent communicator: structured, concise, and credible at all levels of the organisation
- Agile delivery experience — roadmap ownership, backlog prioritisation, sprint governance, JIRA, Confluence
Strong Advantage
- Experience with deal management, pitchbook, CRM, or origination platforms in a GIB context
- Familiarity with data and analytics platforms supporting front-office banking workflows
- Background at a Canadian Big 5 bank, bulge bracket, or global investment bank in a technology product capacity
Who You Are
- A strategic thinker who can also execute — you set the direction and stay close enough to the detail to know when things are going off track
- Genuinely curious about the investment banking business — you ask the questions bankers don't think to ask of their technology
- A confident, articulate communicator — your points land clearly whether you are in a sprint review or presenting to a Managing Director
- A people leader — you raise the standard of everyone around you, create clarity for your team, and take the development of individuals seriously
- A finisher — you take ownership from first conversation to live demo, and you hold yourself and your team accountable to that
- Commercially grounded — you prioritise based on business impact, not technical preference or stakeholder volume
