Role summary
Influential is seeking a Head of Data Engineering & Data Science to lead its data platform and AI/ML capabilities. This role involves defining and executing the roadmap for data engineering, data science, and AI, including building scalable data pipelines for creator data, campaign performance, and attribution. Responsibilities include leading the development and deployment of AI/ML models (e.g., creator scoring, performance prediction, fraud detection, attribution) and driving the adoption of LLMs and multimodal AI for content understanding and analysis. The role requires productionizing ML models, architecting data platforms on AWS using tools like Databricks and ClickHouse, establishing data quality best practices, and ensuring data security and privacy compliance. The Head will also build and mentor a high-performing team.

Overview
Influential’s engineering team is defining the future of the creator economy by building the foundation on how influencers, brands and their audience interact and transact. Our team is seeking creative thinkers with experience solving difficult problems to help us develop solutions that will continue to support Influential’s leadership position in the industry.
We’re looking for a Head of Data Engineering & Data Science to lead the data platform and modeling capabilities behind our influencer marketing products. This role combines scalable data infrastructure with advanced AI/ML, including LLMs and multimodal analysis, to power creator discovery, campaign measurement, and performance optimization.
You’ll partner closely with Engineering, Product, and Customer teams to deliver intelligent, data-driven solutions that drive measurable outcomes for brands.
Responsibilities
- Define and lead the roadmap for data engineering, data science, and AI capabilities
- Build and scale data pipelines for creator data, campaign performance, and attribution across platforms
- Lead development and deployment of models such as:
- Creator scoring and ranking
- Campaign performance prediction
- Fraud and audience authenticity detection
- Attribution and measurement models
- Drive adoption of LLMs and multimodal AI for:
- Content understanding (captions, comments, transcripts)
- Video and image analysis (brand safety, logo detection, content classification)
- Creator-brand matching and insights generation
- Productionize ML/AI models using modern tooling (e.g., MLflow, AWS Bedrock)
- Work with system architects on data platform architecture leveraging Databricks, ClickHouse, and real-time streaming systems (Kafka, Kinesis, RabbitMQ)
- Establish best practices for data quality, governance, and observability (Datadog)
- Collaborate cross-functionally to translate business needs into scalable data and AI solutions
- Build and mentor a high-performing team across data engineering and data science
Qualifications
Required
- 10+ years of experience in data engineering, data science, including leadership
- Strong background in building scalable data platforms on AWS
- Experience with modern data stack (Databricks/Spark, ClickHouse or similar OLAP)
- Hands-on experience with ML workflows and model deployment (MLflow or similar)
- Experience working with LLMs and/or computer vision (image/video analysis) in production settings
- Proficiency in SQL and Python
- Experience with real-time data processing and analytics
- Ability to connect data and AI strategy to business impact
- Experience with data security and privacy compliance processes (GDPR, CCPA, SOC2)
Preferred
- Experience building third-party API integrations (TikTok, Meta).
- Experience in influencer marketing, ad tech, or marketing analytics
- Knowledge of attribution, identity resolution, or experimentation frameworks

Compensation Range: $200,000- $250,000. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Temporary roles may be eligible to participate in our freelancer/temporary employee medical plan through a third-party benefits administration system once certain criteria have been met. Temporary roles may also qualify for participation in our 401(k) plan after eligibility criteria have been met. For regular roles, the Company will offer medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401k, and paid time off.
