Role summary
PUPS Pet Club is seeking a Grooming Program Manager to elevate their grooming services across all Chicago locations. This strategic, individual contributor role focuses on developing and implementing grooming programs, protocols, and policies, ensuring compliance with industry standards. The manager will partner with Area General Managers and the Marketing Team to drive revenue through targeted initiatives. A key responsibility is leading the Grooming Academy, creating curriculum, and instructing aspiring stylists, while also supporting the hiring and onboarding of groomers. The role requires deep technical expertise in grooming and a passion for education and talent development.

Grooming Program Manager
This is a
strategic, individual contributor role
designed for a technical expert who is passionate about education and talent. You will not be grooming dogs daily; instead, you will be the architect of our grooming excellence. You will serve as the primary technical partner to our Recruiting team and the lead instructor for our next generation of stylists.
Job Summary:
The Grooming Program Manager will work to develop and elevating the Grooming services offered at all PUPS Chicago Locations. They will partner with the Area General Managers to support the performance of groomers and grooming services, as well as ensure compliance with industry standards and to craft campaigns to positively impact service offerings and revenue at each location. In addition to managing and implementing the Grooming Academy and training Grooming Students.
Essential functions and responsibilities:
- Partner with the Area General Managers to develop and implement Grooming programs, protocols, and policies across all PUPS Chicago Locations; promote compliance with PUPS Pet Club Grooming standards, procedures, protocols, and policies.
- Stay up to date on all industry trends, standards, protocols and making sure PUPS is remaining competitive in the market.
- Maintain understanding of the Grooming Services budget and goals at each PUPS Chicago location; partner with the Marketing Team and Area General Managers to create initiatives and campaigns to positively impact Grooming sales and revenue.
- Partner with Area General Managers and Talent Acquisition Specialist to help hire, onboard, train, coach, and support Groomers, ensuring Groomers are working efficiently, safely, to Company standards, and to skill level capacity.
- Conduct technical assessment during interview process to verify skill level of applicants.
- Lead the Grooming Academy; creating and implementing curriculum; serving as primary grooming instructor; ensuring all Grooming Students are on track with curriculum for successful graduation.
- Lead employees who are new to Grooming through the training program, taking entry level apprentices and teaching them the artistry and safety of full service Grooming, including hands on training and continuous education sessions.
- Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for technical troubleshooting across all the PUPS Chicago clubs in regards to Grooming.
- Adhering to all pet and human safety protocols at all times.
- Professionally and positively representing PUPS by conducting yourself in a manner that is in the best interest of PUPS Pet Club, PUPS Members, and Club Team Members.

Qualifications:
- A “teacher heart” with the ability to break down complex skills for beginners.

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 5+ years of Grooming experience.
- Education or certificate from grooming training program or academy preferred.
- Strong proficiency in various dog grooming techniques and styling; prior grooming experience required.
- Strong understanding of Grooming industry standards and Grooming business operations required.
- Proficiency with using office equipment (such as phones, computers, printers) preferred.
Physical Requirements:
PUPS Team Members routinely perform the following physical demands. All PUPS Team Members are expected to perform these physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Stand and/or walk for up to 6 hours without a break.
- Kneel, bend, squat, and twist their body.
- Repetitively complete hand and arm movements; reach, grab, pull, and push objects.
- Perform duties in an environment with loud sounds from animals and smells from pet waste and cleaning chemicals.
- Lift up to 50lbs with or without assistance.
Pay & Benefits:
- Pay range is $26-$36/hr based on experience
