Role summary

Purple Squirrels Software LLC is seeking a Software Test Engineer for a long-term/permanent, full-time, onsite position in Fremont, CA. The role involves developing test plans, designing and maintaining automated test scripts using Selenium, integrating tests with CI/CD pipelines, and conducting various types of testing including functional, regression, integration, performance, and security. The engineer will also be responsible for defect tracking using Jira, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and providing technical guidance on best practices. The position requires proficiency in programming languages like C#, C++, Python, and JavaScript, as well as tools such as Postman, Git, Jenkins, AWS, and Azure.

Qualification: Master/ Bachelor/ Associate in CS/IT/Eng./Science or equivalent

Minimum experience required: Bachelor's/Associate's in CS/IT/Eng./Science or equivalent. +2 yrs exp for a junior position. Masters in CS/IT/Eng./Science or equivalent OR Bachelor's in CS/IT/Engg./Science or equivalent. + 5 years of exp for Sr Position.

Pay rate: $88,109.00/year for Bachelor’s/Associate + 2 yrs exp, $113,277.00/year for Master’s + 0 yrs exp, $138,445.00/year for Bachelor’s + 5 yrs exp (OES industry standards) (Employer will pay or exceed the prevailing wage, as determined by the U.S. Department of Labor)

Job Duties:

As a Software Test Engineer, the employee will be responsible for the following job duties:

  • Develop comprehensive test plans, strategies, and test cases based on functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using Selenium.
  • Integrate automated tests with CI/CD pipelines and maintain test environments.
  • Conduct functional, regression, integration, performance, and security testing.
  • Identify, document, and track software defects in collaboration with developers using Jira.
  • Collaborate closely with software developers, product managers, and business analysts to understand requirements and deliver high-quality software.
  • Provide technical guidance on best practices and automation.
  • Drive process improvements by identifying gaps in testing practices and implementing enhancements.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to software quality from the development phase.
