About the Role
The Electrical & Automation Engineer is responsible for the design, installation, maintenance, and improvement of plant process control systems (PCS) and electrical systems. This role ensures reliable operations, supports equipment lifecycle improvements, and integrates new systems into plant processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot plant process control systems and electrical equipment
- Program, test, commission, and maintain PLCs and automation systems
- Support installation and integration of new plant equipment from conception to operation
- Analyze, improve, and document electrical and automation processes in collaboration with supervisors and engineers
- Provide technical expertise in electrical power distribution, motors, transformers, drives, instrumentation, and arc flash safety
- Identify opportunities to maximize equipment lifecycle, reliability, and operational efficiency
- Promote a culture of safety and adhere to all health, safety, and environmental policies
Qualifications
- Education:
Bachelor's degree required
- Field of Study Preferred:
Electrical Engineering
- Experience:
Minimum 2 years of electrical engineering experience in cement or similar industrial facility
- Technical Skills:
PLC programming and process control systems (ABB 800xA, Siemens S7 preferred)
- Instrumentation, motors, starters, VFDs, communication networks (Modbus, Profinet, Ethernet)
- SAP, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Additional Requirements
- Knowledge of high/low voltage power distribution, batching systems, PLCs, VFDs, and motor control
- Experience working with revenue and capital budgets
- Strong decision-making skills on electrical safety matters
- Excellent communication, planning, and organizational abilities
- Team-oriented, self-starter with high initiative
- Adherence to approved Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) usage, including respirators where required
Travel Requirements
- Approximately 10% for training, development, and project support
