As a Software Engineer on the Platform Engineering team, you'll be at the heart of how Redfin builds software. Our team owns the microservices framework that powers the entire engineering organization — the scaffolding, tooling, and integrations that let developers spin up a new service and start shipping features from day one. You won't just be maintaining infrastructure; you'll be shaping the developer experience for hundreds of engineers. We're now bringing generative AI into our platform tooling, and this role sits at the forefront of that effort — building intelligent systems that eliminate toil, automate the repetitive, and let engineers focus on the work that actually moves the business forward. If you're energized by high-leverage problems where your work multiplies the productivity of an entire engineering org, this is the team for you.

The Role

  • Build and maintain the microservices framework that Redfin engineers rely on to create new services
  • Develop generative AI tooling that helps engineers scaffold and deploy services with less manual effort
  • Extend and improve our Spring-based platform as priorities and needs evolve
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to identify pain points and turn them into platform solutions
  • Stay curious about emerging technology and bring ideas for where AI can meaningfully improve developer productivity
  • Embrace change as the industry moves fast and new approaches to platform engineering emerge

Who you are:

  • You have 3+ years of experience in Java or a similar strongly-typed language
  • You have a proven track record building software where security, resilience, and scalability are non-negotiable
  • You are comfortable working in large, complex codebases with many stakeholders
  • Strong fundamentals in distributed systems and service-oriented architecture

Additional Desired Skills:

  • Experience on a platform, developer tooling, or infrastructure team
  • Familiarity with Spring and microservices patterns

What We Offer:

  • Competitive compensation packages with a salary, bonuses, and restricted stock grants
  • Generous benefits, including paid vacation, medical, dental, and vision insurance, and paid family leave
  • A high-growth company, providing opportunities for continued professional development and growth

Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Massachusetts, Colorado, New York City, New Jersey, Jersey City, California, D.C. and Washington candidates only:

Base Pay Range: $125,800.00 - 170,100.00.

The position may also be eligible for an annual bonus, incentives, and other employment-related benefits including, but not limited to, medical, dental, and vision benefits, 401K retirement plan, and paid time off. More information regarding these benefits and others can be found here.
