- About the Opportunity:
The Senior Software Engineer, Technical Search Visibility role focuses on leading initiatives to enhance the organization’s search engine visibility and increase organic web traffic, a key growth driver. This position involves designing scalable systems to improve SEO performance across millions of pages, building robust data pipelines, and working full-stack to ensure discoverability by users. The role also includes leading projects end-to-end, setting technical direction, mentoring engineers, and collaborating closely with Marketing and Product leadership to influence strategy. The position is critical in advancing the organization’s online presence and driving growth through technical innovation.
- Responsibilities:
• Lead SEO and AEO projects independently, managing experimentation, development, and rollout across systems
• Design, develop, and deploy full-stack features to improve search engine visibility and AI answer engine performance
• Architect scalable, efficient solutions optimizing search rankings, LLM visibility, user experience, performance, and cost
• Build and maintain data pipelines for SEO and AEO data processing and analysis
• Identify and resolve root causes of search visibility issues through reusable technical solutions
• Collaborate with Marketing and Product teams to shape features and requirements, balancing complexity and value
• Mentor junior engineers and support team productivity
- Requirements:
• 5–8 years of software engineering experience with expertise in React, Ruby, Python, PostgreSQL, and SQL
• Experience leading projects end-to-end, including architecture, implementation, experimentation, and production
• Strong background in distributed systems and data engineering, with experience in Airflow or DBT
• Proven ability to design for performance, scalability, and robustness, including observability implementations
• Product-focused mindset with skills to influence product direction and balance technical-business trade-offs
• Excellent communication and mentoring abilities, capable of cross-team alignment and explaining technical concepts
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with SEO/AEO initiatives, SEO best practices, structured data, and Core Web Vitals
• Understanding of AI-powered search engines, LLM content optimization, and answer generation
• Familiarity with big data tools (Apache Spark, Airflow, Hadoop), NoSQL databases, and data warehousing platforms
• Experience managing technical debt and leading system modernization
• Knowledge of cloud cost optimization and A/B testing for SEO/AEO impact
• Background partnering with marketing teams in fast-paced startup environments
- Pay Range and Compensation Package:
• Base pay ranges for US candidates vary by location:
CA, NY, CT, NJ $199,000–$210,000 USD
WA $191,000–$201,500 USD
OR, DE, ME, MA, MD, NH, RI, VT, DC, PA, VA, CO, TX, IL, HI $183,000–$193,000 USD
All other states $166,000–$175,000 USD
• Compensation offers depend on candidate experience and skills
• Eligible for new hire equity grants and annual refresh grants
