Security Engineering Lead
Role summary
The Security Engineering Lead will manage and mentor a team of IT Security engineers, overseeing the deployment and maintenance of security tools and processes across network, endpoint, email, cloud, and application security. This role requires hands-on technical leadership in areas such as EDR, IPS, Firewalls, Zero Trust, and vulnerability management, with a focus on both on-premises and cloud environments. The lead will be responsible for incident response, security documentation, delivering metrics to leadership, and ensuring continuous improvement within the organization's cybersecurity posture. A background in regulated environments and experience in people management are essential.

- About the Opportunity:
The Security Engineering Lead will oversee a team responsible for deploying and maintaining security processes and tools that safeguard the organization''s technology environment. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on work across multiple security domains. It is crucial for managing risk, supporting security operations, and driving continuous improvement through effective team management, incident response, and technology oversight.
- Responsibilities:
• Manage, mentor, and lead a team of IT Security engineers to maintain a secure, efficient network and endpoint environment
• Oversee an on-call rotation and act as escalation contact during and after business hours
• Manage security tools, processes, and procedures across network, endpoint, email, cloud, application security, and vulnerability management
• Provide leadership and hands-on support for diverse security technologies including EDR, IPS, NIDS, Firewalls, Zero Trust, Penetration Testing, and others
• Support security in on-premises data centers and cloud environments (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS)
• Create and maintain security documentation, policies, diagrams, and procedures
• Implement and manage remediation for security events, incidents, and vulnerabilities
• Assist with security exercises, audits, and third-party reviews
• Deliver security metrics and reports to leadership for strategic decision making and continuous improvement
• Stay updated on industry security trends and threat profiles
- Requirements:
• BA/BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience
• 7-10+ years in information security, including 3-5+ years in people management or technical leadership
• Experience in network, endpoint, email, cloud, application security, and vulnerability management
• Proven ability to prioritize, delegate, conduct performance reviews, and mentor engineers
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Background in building and scaling security engineering programs in regulated environments, preferably financial services or similar sectors
• Strong research and troubleshooting skills
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of securing systems, databases, and applications
• Broad understanding of current security technologies and industry trends
• Adaptable, customer-oriented team player who follows through on commitments
Preferred certifications: CISSP, CISM, CISA, CEH, CSSLP, CHFI, CCSP, GCIH, GCIA, ITIL v3, MCP, CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, AWS, Azure
