- About the Opportunity:
The Security Engineer I role is responsible for protecting the organization’s people, data, and systems by combining security operations with foundational engineering. This position manages alert triage, vulnerability and access management, and incident response while contributing to cloud security, identity management, and automation improvements. The role supports scalable security controls and strengthens overall security posture in collaboration with senior team members.
- Responsibilities:
• Support secure software development lifecycle through vulnerability and secrets management and security reviews
• Build and improve automated cloud security controls in AWS for monitoring, compliance, and incident response
• Maintain identity and access management, enforcing MFA, least-privilege access, and supporting access reviews with automation
• Monitor and triage security alerts using Datadog, CloudWatch, and Grafana; assist with SIEM evaluation and onboarding
• Coordinate and maintain security training and awareness programs
• Provide backup support for IT operations as needed
• Develop and maintain security documentation including policies, procedures, and runbooks
• Support audits, compliance assessments, and third-party risk reviews
- Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience
• 1–2 years of experience in a security-related role
• Experience securing resources on AWS; familiarity with IaC tools like Terraform is a plus
• Proficiency in Python or Go for scripting and automation
• Experience with identity providers such as Okta or Google Workspace for SSO and access control
• Knowledge of EdTest for access control and testing workflows
• Foundational security practices including MFA, phishing awareness, least-privilege principles, and secure credential handling
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Pay Range and Compensation Package:
• United States - Pay Range $104,550 to $123,000 USD
• Pay ranges are subject to change and are assigned based on market medians from third-party salary surveys
• Individual pay varies based on skills, experience, and budget
