About the Role
The Staff AI Engineer - AI Creator will develop the core AI system that delivers real-time, adaptive learning experiences. This role focuses on building an AI Tutor that acts like a personal coach, guiding millions of learners by adapting to their goals and accelerating their understanding. The position is central to advancing the future of human learning through AI by creating impactful, scalable, and personalized educational technologies.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement key components of the AI tutoring system, including prompt architectures, agentic workflows, and adaptive behaviors
- Manage experiments end-to-end—deploying, measuring, and refining to enhance learning outcomes and model performance
- Develop production-grade systems integrating large language model capabilities into user-facing applications with reliability, speed, and scalability
- Translate product and pedagogical objectives into technical solutions, collaborating closely with product, content, and design teams
- Rapidly prototype and launch new model features to connect research breakthroughs with user impact
- Maintain system quality through thorough testing, monitoring, and iterative improvements to ensure safe and consistent behavior at scale
- Uphold high standards with strong code quality, pragmatic technical decisions, and active engagement in design and code reviews
Requirements
- Experience building and deploying large language model-powered products in production
- Proficiency in prompt engineering and working with agentic workflows or multi-step model interactions
- Strong understanding of experimentation, including design, execution, and analysis to improve performance
- Solid software engineering skills, particularly in Python, with experience in scalable system development
- Strong product intuition connecting model behavior to user experience and outcomes
- Ability to collaborate effectively with non-engineering stakeholders to deliver cohesive, user-centered solutions
- High ownership and a proactive approach to problem-solving in fast-paced environments
- Clear communication skills and contribution to a collaborative, low-ego engineering culture
