  • About the Opportunity:

The Staff Software Engineer, Security Engineeringwill design and build security guardrails for a multi-cloud environment, converting complex security and compliance standards into automated, code-driven policies. This role is critical in shaping cloud security strategy, enforcing identity and access management principles, and ensuring security is integrated into platform design. The position influences the overall security posture by mentoring engineers and guiding leadership decisions in security.

  • Responsibilities:

• Design organization-wide cloud security controls minimizing developer friction

• Architect identity and access management templates and permission boundaries based on least privilege

• Define security standards for network architecture, edge networking, and cross-account connectivity

• Lead security reviews for new features ensuring security integration in the design phase

• Develop systems to validate and enforce real-time security policy compliance with actionable feedback

• Mentor junior engineers and influence senior leadership on critical security decisions

  • Requirements:

• 8+ years of experience in information security focusing on cloud-native environments, Kubernetes, and cloud security

• Deep knowledge of secure network architecture including VPC peering, transit gateways, VPNs, edge protection, and PKI infrastructure management

• Expertise in building automated Policy-as-Code controls within Terraform workflows

• Practical experience in identifying attack vectors and conducting risk assessments for complex distributed systems

• Experience with security platforms analyzing cloud permissions and interest or background in AI applications for security governance

• Strong communication skills with a history of aligning multiple teams on security objectives

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Systems Engineering, or related field

Nice to Have:

• Experience with FedRAMP, SOC2, or HIPAA compliance in cloud environments

• Proficiency in automation languages such as Python, Go, or JavaScript

• Experience with containerized environments and service mesh security policies (e.g., Istio)

• Knowledge of zero-trust networking

Additional Requirements:

• Must be able to access federal environments or protected federal data and establish U.S. Person status as a condition of employment

  • Pay Range and Compensation Package:

• The annual base salary range for candidates located in California (excluding San Francisco Bay Area), Colorado, Illinois, New York, and Washington is $174,000 to $239,000 USD

• Additional compensation includes equity (where applicable), bonus, health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) according to applicable plans and policies
