Role summary

Rent the Runway is seeking an Engineering Manager for their Subscriber Retention team. This role will lead a team focused on subscriber acquisition and activation, working on personalization, onboarding, funnel optimization, and SEO/AEO/ASO to enhance the customer journey. The manager will guide a high-performing engineering team, lead technical planning, champion engineering practices, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and psychological safety. The position requires strong technical leadership, people management experience, and a background in consumer product development, system architecture, and growth initiatives within the e-commerce or fashion industry. This is a hybrid role based in New York City.

  • You’ll lead a team dedicated to creating delightful, seamless, and personalized experiences that help our members feel confident and supported—whether they’re getting ready for a special occasion or planning their everyday wardrobe

  • You’ll manage one of two engineering teams focused on subscriber acquisition and activation. Our work spans personalization, onboarding, funnel optimization, and SEO/AEO/ASO - always with the goal of making our customer journey more intuitive, delightful, and sticky
  • We operate across NYC and Galway, and you’ll collaborate with a global, cross-functional group including Product, Design, Revenue, and Marketing
  • Guide and grow a high performing, collaborative team of software engineers (front-end, back-end, full-stack, and mobile)
  • Lead technical planning and project delivery and champion engineering practices for high-impact consumer-facing initiatives
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to prioritize and deliver work that supports both customer needs and business goals
  • Foster a culture of psychological safety, learning, and continuous feedback
  • Support the career development and wellbeing of your team members
  • Partner with peers and senior leadership to shape long-term strategy and engineering excellence
