Backend Infrastructure Engineer
Role summary
Restored Cloud Inc. is seeking a Backend Infrastructure Engineer to build and maintain deployment infrastructure for AI-powered platforms serving the U.S. Department of Defense. This founding engineering role involves owning container orchestration (VMware vSphere, Tanzu Kubernetes Grid, Docker), network segmentation (NSX-T), identity integration (Red Hat IDM/SSO), and telemetry pipelines (rsyslog, Filebeat, OpenSearch) within air-gapped, security-hardened environments. The position requires experience with production container management, hypervisor environments, Linux systems administration (RHEL preferred), and working in constrained environments. A hybrid remote work arrangement is offered in Mc Lean, VA.
Restored Cloud Inc. is hiring a DevOps/Infrastructure Engineer to build and maintain deployment infrastructure for AI-powered platforms serving the U.S. Department of Defense. You will own container orchestration, networking, identity integration, and telemetry pipelines in air-gapped, security-hardened environments.
This is a founding engineering role on a small team delivering directly to military end users.
What You'll Own
- Container orchestration and deployment on VMware vSphere, Tanzu Kubernetes Grid, and Docker
- Network segmentation and isolation using NSX-T with deny-by-default policies
- Identity integration with Red Hat IDM and Red Hat SSO (OIDC)
- Telemetry pipeline: rsyslog, Filebeat, and OpenSearch for log ingestion and indexing
- CI/CD pipelines for air-gapped environments with no external network dependencies
- STIG/CIS hardening across hosts and clusters
- Infrastructure-as-code, deployment automation, and environment reproducibility
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship (required)
- Experience deploying and managing containers in production (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with VMware vSphere or similar hypervisor environments
- Linux systems administration (RHEL preferred)
- Familiarity with network segmentation and firewall configuration
- Experience with log pipelines (rsyslog, Filebeat, ELK/OpenSearch, or equivalent)
- Comfortable working in constrained environments with no internet access
Strong Preferences
- Active security clearance (TS or TS/SCI)
- Experience with air-gapped or classified deployments
- Familiarity with Red Hat IDM, Red Hat SSO, or Keycloak
- VMware NSX-T experience
- STIG/CIS hardening experience
- Prior DoD or IC contracting work

Pay: $121,002.27 - $205,000.00 per year
