Data Engineer
Role summary
REW.ca is seeking a highly motivated Data Engineer to join their Data Team. This role involves wrangling real estate data, building and maintaining sustainable data infrastructure, and supporting analytics. The Data Engineer will be responsible for evolving the existing data platform, optimizing ETL pipelines, and ensuring data accuracy and availability. Key responsibilities include data modeling, ETL script development, and collaborating with internal teams. The ideal candidate has at least one year of professional experience in data engineering/analysis with big data tech stacks, proficiency in Python or similar languages, strong SQL knowledge, and experience with cloud providers like AWS or GCS. This is a hybrid role based in Vancouver.

We’re searching for a hugely-motivated Data Engineer to help our Data Team wrangle real estate data, build sustainable infrastructure, and support analytics.

Rocking the role.
Data is at the heart of everything we do at REW. Every day, our platform ingests feeds from dozens of sources to compile, composite and augment the listings that thousands of homeseekers search through in their quest for the perfect home.
You would join a small team in evolving REW’s existing data platform. Your role may include responding to upstream changes from some of our feed providers, optimizing performance to respond to increased demand or troubleshooting integrity issues.
As you grow in the role, you’ll earn the opportunity to take on more complex problems and own all aspects of developing end-to-end data flows, including gathering requirements, data modeling, ETL script development and data quality control.
We support work on an agile data platform built on the cloud utilizing big-data tools to extract, transform and load data from a variety of sources. Our Data Engineers act as key technical resources, participating in architectural design, developing robust, reliable workflows and ensuring data accuracy and availability.

- Maintaining and enhancing REW’s data platform
- Developing, debugging, and optimizing ETL pipelines
- Building sustainable infrastructure to host our data pipelines
- Data processing and data modelling
- Collaborating with various internal teams and stakeholders to power new services and features
- Developing reports or data visualization tools for internal use to help support the REW's sales and marketing efforts
- Participating in project planning and analysis as needed

Qualifications.
- Minimum of one year of professional experience with data engineering/analysis and big data tech stacks
- Bachelor of Computer Science, similar technical degree or equivalent experience
- Proficiency in Python or similar language for data processing with exposure to other scripting and object-oriented programming languages
- Knowledge of ETL/ELT concepts and technologies
- Strong knowledge of SQL and experience in relational database development and data modelling
- Proven experience in AWS, GCS or similar cloud providers
