Role summary
Robert Half is seeking an Operations Accountant for a manufacturing client in the western suburbs. This role involves general accounting, preparing monthly financials, reconciling inventory and production variance accounts, and preparing journal entries related to inventory valuation. The accountant will also research and analyze variances in materials, labor, and manufacturing overhead, support external audits, calculate BOM and product costs, and monitor internal controls. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting with at least 5 years of manufacturing experience is required, along with proficiency in US GAAP, cost accounting principles, and Microsoft Excel. Familiarity with Sage 100 ERP is preferred. The position offers a salary of $80,000-$85,000 with a full benefits package.
Robert Half is looking for an Operations Accountant for a manufacturing client in the western suburbs. The Operations Accountant will be responsible for:
• Performs general accounting and other related duties for the organization.
• Prepares monthly financials, reports, and schedules.
• Reconciles inventory and production variance accounts.
• Prepare monthly journal entries related to CIP, WIP and inventory valuation.
• Reviews inventory adjustments arising from cycle counts and coordinates physical inventory counts.
• Research and analysis of variances for materials, labor and manufacturing overhead.
• Provides support for outside auditors; gather necessary account information and backup documentation for quarterly and annual audits.
• Calculate BOM and unit product costs for annual standard setting and quotations with customers.
• Continuously monitor internal controls related to inventory production, shipping and receiving
• Follows US GAAP accounting practices and procedures.
• Prepares monthly manufacturing cost analysis reports and ties back to ERP system.
• Reviews productivity reporting in collaboration with production teams, including headcount metrics for manufacturing.
• Performs other related duties and projects assigned.
Successful Operations Accountant will have the following:
• Bachelor of Science in Accounting and at least 5 years of related experience in a manufacturing setting required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and willingness to work in a paperless environment.
• Working knowledge of cost accounting.
• Understanding of and the ability to adhere to US GAAP.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Working knowledge of Sage 100 ERP Accounting Software preferred.
This position offers a salary range of $80,000-85,000 and offers a full benefits package including medical, dental, vision insurance, 401k with match, PTO and holiday pay.

• Demonstrated ability to handle month-end close processes, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
