
Principal Software Engineer
Role summary
Roche Sequencing is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to develop frontier technologies for personalized healthcare. This role involves analyzing, designing, and developing complex software applications, enhancing product line functionality, and conducting systems-level analysis. The ideal candidate will have a BS/BA degree, 6 years of software engineering experience with Python, Angular, and C++, and expertise in cloud platforms like Kubernetes. The Position
You, as a Principal Software Engineer, are not only changing science but also changing lives through the development of frontier technologies that accelerate personalized healthcare. Roche Sequencing is developing ground-breaking next-generation sequencing products that allow scientists/clinicians powerful new avenues to investigate DNA, the blueprint of any lifeform, in days, giving them the ability to understand health conditions such as cancer, HIV, COVID19 and more.
The Opportunity
- Analyzing, designing, and developing requirements for long-term, complex software applications aligned with overall project goals
- Developing, modifying, and reconfiguring software methodologies for product line applications to enhance functionality and efficiency
- Conducting systems-level analysis of software, including requirements, design, testing, modifications, planning, scheduling, cost, and performance
- Providing input for proposal activities by contributing to technical analysis, project requirements, performance metrics, scheduling, and cost assessments
- Developing software systems performance metrics and defining project standards to ensure alignment with goals and commitments
Who You Are
- You have a BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Science, Engineering or a related field
- You have 6 years of software engineering experience using Python, Angular, C++/Object-oriented programming. Other related experience: software architecture, networking, and distributed systems, and/or UNIX/NT development, cloud Platforms including Compute, Storage, Kubernetes, Notification systems, managed services, security, encryption, networking, orchestration, and optimization, database applications and real-time systems, Big Data
- You know software engineering concepts, principles and languages applicable to the product line supporting, and have general knowledge of computer-aided software engineering principles and systems

- Experience in a combination of the following: Database applications, graphic applications, real-time systems, numerical analysis, networks, modeling, simulation, systems management, expert systems and/or system tests
- Google Cloud Platform experience and structure analysis techniques
- Understanding of git with GitHub or similar platforms and CI/CD environments

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $143,800.00 - $236,210.00. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
