Role summary

ROE is a startup building an AI agent platform for financial crimes, trusted by major public companies and backed by prominent investors. As a Software Engineer Intern, you will build mission-critical features for Fortune 500 customers, focusing on AI agents in the financial industry. You will operate as part of a lean, fast-paced team, owning problems end-to-end and collaborating closely. The ideal candidate is a college student eager to learn startup operations and build AI agents in production, comfortable with Python, cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure), and agent frameworks. This hybrid role requires a strong academic record (GPA >= 3.75) and participation in coding bootcamps or hackathons.

What you'll do

  • Build AI agent platform to serve risk and compliance in trillion dollar financial industry (don't worry if you don't know anything about finance)
  • Build mission critical features for Fortune 500 customers
  • Operate as one team: own problems end-to-end, review each other’s code, and move quickly.

What you won’t do

  • Bureaucracy. No 3-month approvals to launch a feature.
  • Politics. No fighting other teams for headcount or scope.
  • Build for the void. We ship what customers actually need.

  • You can’t commit to intense weeks (we sometimes run 6-day sprints).

  • You can’t be in the office 3 days/week (hybrid in SF Bay Area).
