Senior Backend Engineer (Infrastructure)
Role summary
Ro is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer for its infrastructure team to ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of healthcare systems. This role involves designing and implementing resilient infrastructure, building developer tools for deployment and monitoring, and partnering with engineering teams to integrate best practices for reliability and observability. The engineer will automate workflows using Infrastructure as Code and contribute to a culture of operational excellence, guiding others in reliability practices. The position requires strong software development skills in languages like Go or Python, an operational mindset focused on reliability, and experience with tools like Terraform, distributed systems, and observability platforms such as Datadog.

- You will work across teams to drive uptime, performance and observability – partnering closely with product and security engineers. From designing resilient systems to shaping incident response practices, this is a role for engineers who thrive on impact and care deeply about operational excellence
- Design and implement resilient infrastructure to support high availability at scale
- Build and contribute to developer tools that streamline deployment, monitoring and recovery of systems
- Partner with engineering teams to bake best practices for reliability, resilience and observability into services
- Automate infrastructure workflows using IaC and other cloud native tools
- Contribute to our culture of operational excellence, guiding engineers through reliability practices and raising the bar across the engineering org
