Role summary

Reflect Health is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to define technical direction, architect scalable systems, and deliver high-impact solutions for their next-generation platform. This is a remote, non-supervisory role focused on writing code, driving architecture, and setting engineering standards. Responsibilities include partnering with product and leadership, designing end-to-end solutions, contributing code across backend (C#, .NET, Python, SQL) and frontend (React, Next.js) systems, and establishing best practices for coding, testing, performance, and security. The role requires strong architectural thinking, experience with cloud-native architectures (AWS, Azure), and the ability to modernize legacy systems while mentoring engineers and driving technical excellence.

We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer to partner with leadership and product teams to define technical direction, architect scalable systems, and deliver high-impact solutions used by millions of members. This is a highly visible, non-supervisory role where you’ll write code, drive architecture, and set engineering standards across our next-generation platform.

Responsibilities:

  • Own Technical Direction: Partner with product and leadership to translate business needs into scalable, maintainable systems.
  • Lead Architecture & Delivery: Design and deliver end-to-end solutions, from early concept through production and iteration.
  • Build Across the Stack: Contribute high-quality code across backend and frontend systems.
  • Drive Engineering Excellence: Establish and enforce best practices for coding standards, testing, documentation, performance, and security.
  • Mentor & Influence: Provide technical guidance to engineers on design patterns, architecture, and code quality, raising the bar across the team.
  • Modernize Legacy Systems: Evaluate, debug, and evolve existing platforms, including rebuilding components as needed.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to deliver results.
  • Agile Participation: Actively contribute to sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and delivery cycles.
  • Innovate in Healthcare: Drive creative solutions that improve healthcare systems, enhance operational efficiency, and deliver value to millions of members.

Qualifications

  • Background: Proven experience designing, building, and launching production systems from the ground up, with strong backend and frontend expertise.
  • Backend Stack: C# .NET, SQL (PostgreSQL or SQL Server), Python.
  • Frontend Stack: React or Next.js.
  • Architectural Thinking: Strong ability to make sound trade-offs across scalability, performance, and maintainability.
  • Legacy & Modern Systems: Skilled at evolving legacy systems while building new, modern platforms.
  • Cloud & Distributed Systems: Experience with cloud-native architectures (AWS, Azure, or similar) and distributed systems.
  • Execution in Ambiguity: Comfortable delivering results in fast-moving environments with evolving requirements.
  • Mentorship & Leadership: Passion for mentoring engineers, driving technical excellence, and raising the bar across the team.
  • Emerging Technologies: Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools or agent-based workflows.
