Job Title: AI & Cloud Engineering Intern
Job Overview:
We are seeking a motivated Summer Intern to join our engineering team and contribute to active projects spanning data visualization, AI-powered tooling, and cloud-based machine learning. The intern will work alongside engineers and cross-functional teams to deliver real-world solutions used across the organization. Depending on skill level and interest, the intern will be matched to one or more projects ranging from dashboard development to AI application integration and computer vision.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop interactive dashboards and data visualizations using AWS analytics services (e.g., Amazon QuickSight) to monitor the performance and health of automated batch processing systems
- Assist in the development and testing of an AI-powered browser extension that integrates intelligent assistant capabilities into internal web applications
- Document technical architecture, usage guides, and integration patterns for internal tooling
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Foundational knowledge of at least one programming language (Python or similar)
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, particularly Amazon Web Services
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and work collaboratively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Amazon QuickSight, Tableau, or Power BI
- Exposure to web development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, browser extensions)
- Familiarity with AI/ML concepts, APIs, or frameworks (e.g., Google Vertex AI, AWS Bedrock, OpenAI)
- Understanding of computer vision or image classification concepts
Project Areas
Depending on the candidate's experience and interests, work may include:
- Data & Monitoring Dashboards: Building a centralized dashboard using Amazon QuickSight to visualize job execution data, error rates, performance trends, and system health across 50+ automated processes. Integrated into the internal SG Core UI for business and technical users.
- AI-Powered Internal Tooling: Contributing to a browser extension that overlays AI assistant capabilities onto approximately 20 internal web applications, including building and testing AI-driven workflows, documenting integration patterns, and supporting cross-application deployment.
