Software Engineer, Simulation Infrastructure & Tooling
Role summary
Samsung Semiconductor is seeking a Software Engineer to own and advance their simulation infrastructure. This role is responsible for ensuring trace-driven power/thermal analysis is reproducible, automated, and scalable. Key duties include setting up and maintaining compute environments, building automation pipelines for simulations and testing, managing data pipelines, and supporting experiment management. The ideal candidate will have strong systems-level software engineering skills, experience with Linux, build systems, automation, and scripting languages like Python and Bash. Exposure to RTL and thermal simulators is also required. This is an onsite role in San Jose, CA.

What You'll Do
This role owns the simulation infrastructure, ensuring that trace‑driven power/thermal analysis is reproducible, automated, and scalable across projects, and helps other team members build their assets efficiently.
Location: Daily onsite presence at our San Jose, CA office in alignment with our Flexible Work policy
Reports to: SVP, R&D (Power & Thermal Lab)
- Set up and maintain compute environments and simulation servers.
- Build automation pipelines for simulation runs, regression testing, and result tracking.
- Manage data pipelines for traces, power features, and thermal outputs.
- Support experiment management, versioning, and reproducibility.
- Collaborate with modeling engineers to streamline workflows.
- Interface with RTL and thermal simulators.
What You Bring
- Bachelors degree 5+ years of experience or Masters degree 3+ years of experience.
- Strong systems‑level software‑engineering skills.
- Solid experience in programming‑environment and server setup and management.
- Experience with Linux environments, build systems, and automation.
- Familiarity with scripting (Python, Bash) workflows.
- Exposure to RTL and thermal simulators.
### Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting research or modeling teams.
- Experience with large‑scale simulation or EDA/CFD‑adjacent tooling environments.
