Role summary

We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer for an early-stage applied AI startup in the banking industry. This role involves designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing AI-powered software solutions. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated backend/fullstack experience, particularly with Python (Django, Flask, FastAPI), TypeScript (React), Docker, and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP). Strong experience in distributed systems, relational and non-relational databases (PostgreSQL, Redis), and API design (REST, GraphQL) is essential. The role requires owning project timelines, driving product decisions, and fostering best practices. Bonus points for experience with workflow orchestration, cloud infrastructure, and data pipelines.

The role

We're a San Francisco & Montreal based applied AI startup that's building the future of work in the banking industry. We are tackling a $100 billion/yr problem, doubling every quarter and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with multi-turn AI agentic systems.

Our goal is to tackle the type of automation problems that require long-context reasoning, tool orchestration across legacy systems, and strict compliance loops: the ones without known answers.

We’ve shipped real agents that handle real customer workflows in production. With a growing customer base and live deployments, we’re scaling up fast and looking for deeply technical builders who want to have outsized impact early.

Our core engineering team is looking for a builder, a Software Engineer who thrives in early-stage (ambiguous) environments. You’ve seen products through from v1 to scale, and you love designing clean systems that last.

Your mission is to

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance practical AI-powered software solutions for the fintech industry.
  • Own project timelines by managing priorities and delivering high-quality features.
  • Drive product and business decisions as a core contributor, helping to define and shape both the technical foundation and strategic direction.
  • Participate and foster best practices including code reviews, testing, etc.

Who You Are

  • Demonstrated backend/fullstack engineering experience, ideally in SaaS in high-impact projects
  • Deep experience with Python (Django, Flask, FastAPI), TypeScript (React), Docker, and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP)
  • Strong experience with designing, building and scaling distributed systems
  • Strong background in relational + non-relational databases (PostgreSQL, Redis)
  • API design chops (REST, GraphQL), deployment know-how

  • Have built complex workflow orchestration systems
  • Know your way around cloud infra
  • Have experience building integrations or data pipelines
