the opportunity

The Reliability Test Engineer is responsible for a variety of laboratory procedures, including designing and executing testing protocols for mechanical and electrical products developed by Server Products. They will work collaboratively with Engineering, Marketing/Innovation, Manufacturing, Sales, and other departments as needed to qualify and quantify product performance in accordance with developed and approved testing protocols. Ultimately, this role will be responsible for performing lab procedures and producing reliable, fact-based results to support Go/No Go decisions across the company's various areas.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize engineering principles and concepts to contribute to the development, reliability, and performance of new and existing products.
  • Design and implement test protocols and procedures to achieve short/long-term goals related to customer and company needs.
  • Conduct experiments under controlled conditions to verify/reject various hypotheses and define test methods and procedures.
  • Recommend and execute laboratory testing according to protocols, make and record observations, interpret and document findings, and generate fact-based, well-written reports for internal and customer usage using statistical analysis.
  • Seek to understand appropriate pass/fail criteria, either individually or with a project team.
  • Develop a strong understanding of Server’s products and customer use, to meet the company’s current and future product needs.
  • Organize, catalog, and store all project-related test fixtures, test methods, and analysis for use across the organization.
  • Responsible for calibration of equipment, ordering laboratory supplies, and making recommendations for future equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field required
  • Experience designing, implementing protocols and performing lab testing and analysis in an equipment manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in CAD modeling creating test fixtures or 3D printer prototype parts
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude with a general knowledge of PCBs and other sensitive electrical components.
  • Analytical skills: ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, have critical thinking skills, and execute recommendations.
  • Ability to analyze test data for statistical significance (familiarity with EngineRoom or other similar software a plus).
  • Is highly agile, can manage multiple priorities and complex tasks on multiple tracks.
  • Strong project management skills and a high level of attention to detail.
  • Self-starter, takes initiative and executes tasks with little direction.
