Job Summary
We are seeking a solution-oriented DevOps Engineer to own the reliability, automation, and release management of our high-volume e-commerce ecosystem. In this role, you will act as the bridge between our Order Management System (Manhattan) and our E-commerce Platform (Salesforce Commerce Cloud).
Unlike traditional infrastructure roles, this position focuses on
Application DevOps
: ensuring data consistency, managing CI/CD pipelines via GitHub, and orchestrating automation jobs on Heroku. You will spend 80% of your time on engineering/automation and roughly 20% on high-level troubleshooting to resolve data disruptions.
The Tech Stack You Will Manage
- Core Platforms:
Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC), Manhattan OMS.
- Orchestration & Compute:
Heroku (running Python automation jobs/scripts).
- Source Control & CI:
GitHub, GitHub Actions.
- Data & APIs:
REST/SOAP APIs, JSON, XML, PostgreSQL.
Essential Functions
- Integration & Data Reliability (Crucial):
Monitor and maintain the critical data pipelines between Manhattan OMS and Salesforce. Ensure product, inventory, order, and other data transfers occur without disruption.
- Automation Engineering:
Develop and maintain scripts (primarily Python on Heroku) to streamline manual processes, handle exception logic, and automate daily data flows.
- Release Management:
Manage the CI/CD strategy using GitHub. Oversee code branching, merging, packaging, and the deployment of releases to production environments.
- Observability & Monitoring:
Build and refine alerting mechanisms to detect API failures, job crashes, or data lags before they impact the business.
- Environment Management:
Manage SSL certificates, platform licenses, and user access controls for GitHub and Salesforce ecosystems.
- Disaster Recovery:
Own the backup strategies and disaster recovery procedures to ensure business continuity.
- System Optimization:
Collaborate with development teams to troubleshoot coding issues that impact system performance or scalability.
Requirements
- Experience:
2–5 years in a DevOps, Site Reliability, or Integration Engineering role.
- Scripting:
Strong proficiency in
Python
is required (specifically for API interaction and data processing).
- Integration Knowledge:
Deep understanding of data interchange standards (JSON, XML) and experience troubleshooting REST/SOAP API integrations.
- Version Control:
knowledge of
GitHub
(branching strategies, pull requests, resolving merge conflicts).
- SaaS Ecosystems:
Experience working with Enterprise SaaS platforms (Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Shopify, or similar eCommerce systems) is highly desired.
- Database:
Working knowledge of SQL (Postgres) is a plus.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a "root cause" mindset.
- Ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical business partners.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail (critical for certificate/license management).
