We are looking for a Senior Product Designer to help drive Mailgun's growth by improving how users onboard, activate, and succeed with the platform. This role focuses on hands-on product design and experimentation, partnering closely with Product and Engineering to identify opportunities, test ideas, and ship impactful improvements. The designer will apply targeted research methods when needed to validate hypotheses, understand user needs, and ensure growth initiatives are grounded in real customer behavior while moving quickly toward execution.

DESCRIPTION

Mailgun is looking for a Senior Product Designer focused on growth to help improve how developers and product teams onboard, activate, and succeed with our platform. This role sits at the intersection of product strategy and hands-on execution, working closely with Product Management and Engineering to identify growth opportunities and turn them into clear, shippable product experiences.

The designer in this role will contribute across discovery, design, and experimentation. A key part of the work is validating hypotheses about user behavior and identifying opportunities that improve activation, retention, and expansion. This includes applying research methods when needed to better understand user needs and prioritize opportunities, while remaining deeply involved in execution and delivery.

This role is ideal for a designer who enjoys working in product-led growth environments where experimentation, rapid iteration, and measurable outcomes are core to how the team operates.

What You'll Do

- Drive growth-focused design initiatives
across onboarding, activation, retention, and upgrade experiences within the Mailgun platform
- Partner closely with Product Managers
to identify growth opportunities, frame hypotheses, and translate insights into experiments and product improvements
- Design and prototype solutions
that address friction across the customer journey, moving ideas from exploration through production-ready delivery with Engineering
- Use targeted research and product analytics
to validate assumptions, understand user needs, and inform growth decisions
- Translate qualitative and quantitative signals
into clear opportunity areas and measurable outcomes for the product
- Leverage modern design and AI-assisted tools
to accelerate exploration, prototyping, and experimentation
- Contribute to shared design systems, patterns, and standards
to ensure consistency, scalability, and accessibility across the Mailgun experience

REQUIREMENTS

- Significant experience as a
Senior Product Designer
working on complex SaaS or developer-focused products, with ownership of end-to-end design processes
- Strong experience designing growth-oriented experiences such as onboarding flows, activation journeys, conversion improvements, or PLG environments
- Ability to use research and data to understand user needs, validate hypotheses, and inform product decisions
- Proven ability to synthesize qualitative and quantitative insights into clear product opportunities and design direction
- Fluency with modern design and prototyping tools, including deep expertise in Figma and comfort using AI-assisted workflows
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with experience partnering closely with Product Managers and Engineers
- Solid understanding of usability, accessibility, and inclusive design principles
- Experience working with developer tools, APIs, messaging platforms, or technical SaaS products is a plus
- Familiarity with modern frontend development frameworks and technologies is also a plus

The annual starting salary for this position is between $120,000 - $140,000. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications.
