Director, Engineering - Views (Remote Eligible)
Role summary
Smartsheet is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead the teams responsible for its user-facing Views, including Timeline View, Board View, and Shared Experiences. This role involves owning the engineering vision, driving roadmap with product counterparts, and leading multiple engineering teams through managers and principal engineers. The Director will focus on architecting highly scalable, high-availability front-end experiences, maintaining a high quality bar, and defining key engineering and business outcomes. Responsibilities include guiding technical efforts, resolving architectural conflicts, driving AI adoption, and leading strategic hiring and talent development. The role requires strong communication skills and the ability to build trust across functions, with a focus on coaching through ambiguity and fostering continuous improvement.

Smartsheet Views are the user-facing center of the Smartsheet experience. They are the highest-usage UX area in the product, and the primary way millions of users interact with the Grid Platform, the core of Smartsheet's Intelligent Work Management platform. As Director of Engineering for Views, you will lead the teams building Timeline View, Board View, and the Shared Experiences that power UX consistency across Smartsheet's growing portfolio of views. These teams sit at a critical intersection of front-end craft, platform architecture, and product strategy.
You will report to the Senior Director of Engineering, based in our Bellevue, WA office, or you may work remotely from anywhere in the US where Smartsheet is a registered employer.

Actual compensation is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, level of professional, educational experience, skills, and specific candidate location.
