What are we looking for?

SoftPro is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Associate Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our Cloud Operations Team in our Raleigh, NC office or as a remote employee for a candidate with an appropriate amount of skillset and experience. This team supports our solutions using the latest Microsoft technologies and hosting services including Microsoft Azure, encouraging your design input and creativity. The ideal candidate will develop foundational knowledge of the platforms that run our solutions. This position will contribute to ensuring our SLA's are met through the engineering solutions the team develops.

What will I do as an Associate Site Reliability Engineer at SoftPro?

  • Assist in producing and refining observability metrics associated with our platforms and the user experience.
  • Support the refinement of service level indicators and monitoring capabilities with the goal of proactively identifying and resolving issues.
  • Participate in the development of operational systems and solutions to include performance, application health, and scalability for cloud-based environments.
  • Assist in maintaining Infrastructure as Code used to build alerting and configure monitoring systems.
  • Support the maintenance of CI/CD automation pipelines for the services and systems we provide.
  • Demonstrate technical curiosity through your drive to understand services leveraged in depth.
  • Collaborate with product development and engineering teams in support of organizational goals.
  • Assist with incident response; help triage production issues in our software products including the underlying Cloud Infrastructure & service providers.
  • Support system reporting and monitoring needs as defined by the team.
  • Actively participate in team activities (standups, backlog refinements, blameless postmortems, product demonstrations / reviews).
  • Share your passion for problem solving and continuous improvement with the team.

What will I need to be successful as an Associate SRE at SoftPro?

Required Technical Skills:

  • Infrastructure as Code: Basic understanding of provisioning Cloud Infrastructure and services using Infrastructure as Code tools; exposure to Terraform and/or Ansible is a plus.
  • Automation: Foundational skills in task automation leveraging scripting languages such as PowerShell or Bash; familiarity with CI/CD concepts and tools.
  • Operating Systems: Working knowledge of Linux/Unix command line and Windows Server OS environments.
  • Familiarity with containerization concepts and technologies such as Docker and/or Kubernetes.
  • Ability to manage work via ticketing systems and source control (for example: Jira / DevOps / Git Repos).
  • Exposure to application performance monitoring & alerting platforms/systems (for example – Azure Monitor, Application Insights, or similar tools).
  • Databases: Basic familiarity with structured and/or document database technologies (MS SQL Server, MySQL, MongoDB / Azure CosmosDB).
  • Foundational understanding of cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure IaaS & PaaS resources.

Required Soft Skills:

  • Collaboration & Teamwork: Strong customer service skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment with developers and operations teams.
  • Communication: Ability to clearly communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Incident Support: Ability to remain calm and focused when assisting during system outages or impactful events.
  • Able to adapt to the constantly changing landscape of technologies, systems, and environments.
  • Self-driven learner - must exhibit logical & analytical thinking skills as well as strong attention to detail.

Desired Skills

  • Basic awareness of industry standard authentication protocols such as OpenID Connect (OIDC) and OAuth 2.0.
  • Exposure to networking concepts such as the OSI model and cloud network infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with SDLC concepts and software development fundamentals.
  • Any relevant academic, internship, professional project experience in a cloud or operations environment.
