Position Overview
We are looking for a Field Test Engineer to join our early-stage team in developing advanced solar-thermal reactor prototypes for clean material and fuel synthesis. You will play a key role in designing, analyzing, building, and testing reactor components and systems as part of a groundbreaking solar technology platform.
This is a full-time, on-site position based at our solar-thermal field test site in Casa Grande, AZ.
Responsibilities:
- Test and evaluate reactor hardware and process control systems
- Operate process control software/hardware and diagnostic subsystems
- Create detailed CAD models and drawings
- Procure, build, and test components and integrated systems
- Analyze experimental data and iterate designs
- Design and model reactor components and subsystems (optical, thermal, mechanical, and fluid components)
- Communicate technical results and recommendations to the lead engineer and broader team
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field
- Experience with data acquisition and control software and hardware (National Instruments or equivalent)
- Proficiency with CAD tools (SolidWorks or equivalent)
- Programming proficiency (MATLAB, Python or equivalent)
- Hands-on experience with prototyping, fabrication, and lab/field testing
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with fluid handling and control systems
- Experience with high-temperature or vacuum system design
- Knowledge of finite-element analysis (FEA) tools
- Machine shop and/or welding experience
Compensation and Benefits
- Base compensation of $80,000 – $90,000 annually, based on qualifications and experience
