The SD Board of Regents Information Systems is seeking a self-starter to develop and support technology-based software solutions, with a focus on administrative systems including HR, Finance, Student Information, Financial Aid and related systems, to ensure the efficient operation, integration, and delivery of services for the BOR public University system.

Responsibilities include being a primary resource to create and implement new technology-based software solutions; application software system support; implementation and support of interoperability tools and technologies; and to address integration requirements between the BOR systems.
This position is physically located in Sioux Falls, SD and is NOT a remote position.
This position is not eligible for sponsorship.

Position Requirements:

  • Related software development education and work experience.
  • Working knowledge of webservices APIs
  • A working knowledge of SQL or PL/SQL
  • Experience building integrations between disparate systems, both on-prem and cloud based.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and support application functionality and process flows.
  • Ability to support a project through to completion.
  • Ability to easily adapt to a changing technological landscape.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of constituents and be team oriented.
  • Must be a highly motivated individual, with a passion to learn and ability to work independently and with a team.

Preferred Skills:

- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in information systems preferred, other combinations of experience and education may be acceptable by the hiring authority
- Ellucian Banner (technical/administrative)
- Higher Education System a plus.
- Utilizing an iPaaS development platform
- Developing and modifying PL/SQL packages, procedures, and functions.
- Installation, configuration, and administration of commercial/vendor application systems.
- Maintaining systems in an Oracle environment
- Programming languages/technologies: HTML, Javascript, React, Java/other OOP languages, XML, JSON, Python, ASP.NET, REST
- Experience with Windows and Linux
Functional knowledge of: Linux shell scripts and Apache Tomcat

Applicants with software development experience, 4 or more years of related work/school experience, and who are able to provide guidance and expertise on all aspects of the software development life cycle will be considered at the Software Engineer classification.

Department Description and Cultural Expectations

The SDBOR governs the six public universities in the state of South Dakota, and also oversights the SD School for the Blind and Visually Impaired and the SD School for the Deaf. This position is housed at the Regents Information System (RIS) offices in Sioux Falls, SD. RIS operates the computing systems, networks, and security for the Regental System in direct coordination with the Board of Regents mission.
