Role summary
Southeast Missouri State University is seeking a Data Engineer to develop and maintain data pipelines, repositories, and reporting systems. This role involves using ETL tools like SSIS and Alteryx, writing SQL queries and stored procedures, and working with data visualization tools such as SSRS and Power BI. The Data Engineer will collaborate with the Office of Institutional Research and campus leadership to identify data sources, develop database schemas and data models, and ensure data reliability and quality. Experience with MS SQL Server or Snowflake is required. A Master's degree or a Bachelor's degree with four years of relevant experience is necessary. Experience in Higher Education is a plus.

Data EngineerInformation TechnologyFull TimePrimary ResponsibilitiesDevelop procedures for moving operational data into data repositories used for reporting and data analysis employing Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) tools such as SSIS and Alteryx to automate data pipeline servicesImplement and document needed data mappings and transformations between data sources and data repositories Incorporate error checking and alerting procedures to ensure failed procedures are caught and corrected in a timely manner Develop and support stored procedures and SQL views and queries needed for data access, cleaning and transformations. Implement methods to improve data reliability and qualityWork with the Office of Institutional Research to identify existing operational data sources to support the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and help develop database schemas and data models to support longitudinal data analysisImplement data access controls to support least privileged access policies for data supporting operational and strategic data usesWork with clients and the Office of Institutional Research to help develop needed reports and data dashboards. Use tools such as SSRS and Power Bi to develop and support reports and dashboards. Implement data models supporting data reporting needsWork with campus leadership to identify database platforms, data reporting and analysis tools, and data ETL systems that support campus data management needs and align with evolving technologies
