Role summary

SpaceX is seeking a DSP Engineer for its Starlink Space Lasers team to develop cutting-edge satellite free-space optical communication systems. This role involves designing and testing algorithms, modeling system performance, and collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams. The engineer will contribute to mission-critical applications in low earth orbit and beyond, working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Responsibilities include driving firmware/software design decisions, researching novel solutions, and owning product results from requirements to flight. A Bachelor's degree in CS, CE, or EE with 1+ years of DSP experience, or 3+ years of DSP experience in lieu of a degree, is required, along with experience in modem design, algorithm development, and system modeling.

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

DSP ENGINEER, SATELLITES (STARLINK)

The Starlink Space Lasers team develops, produces, and deploys the most cutting-edge satellite free-space optical communication systems in the world. We are looking for engineers to contribute to the development of laser communications terminals and imaging products for the groundbreaking constellation of Starlink satellites. All SpaceX optical systems (laser communication terminal and other optical products) require a blend of theoretical expertise, practical implementation skills, and a passion for solving complex problems in real-time, resource-constrained systems.

As a DSP engineer on the Starlink Space Laser team, you will work with a team of Optical engineers, DSP engineers, software engineers, hardware engineers and end users to shape the future of laser communication systems and directly contribute to mission-critical applications in low earth orbit and beyond. You will work in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment.
