Senior Software Engineer - Java
Role summary
Squarespace is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with a focus on backend development to join their R&D Engineering teams in NYC. This hybrid role involves building scalable, reliable systems using Java and related technologies. The engineer will contribute to design and architectural discussions, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver features from concept to launch. The ideal candidate has 7+ years of professional experience in backend development, strong computer science fundamentals, and experience with large-scale distributed systems. Experience in Identity and Access Management (IAM) or Communications Platform is a plus. The role reports to the Engineering Team Manager.

As a Backend Engineer, you'll be part of a collaborative, high-impact team working to create scalable, reliable systems behind some of the most intuitive tools on the web. This is a hybrid role working from our NYC office 3 days per week. You will report to the Engineering Team Manager.

Benefits & Perks
Cash Compensation Range: $128,500 – $231,500 USD
The base salary for this position will vary based on job-related criteria including relevant skills, experience, and location, among other factors.
In addition to the cash compensation above (which includes base salary and, where applicable for eligible roles, may include overtime pay), Squarespace employees are eligible to be granted an option to purchase our common stock. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive structure in addition to base salary.
