Role summary

We are seeking a PCBA Test Engineer to ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) in electronic systems. This role involves designing and implementing test plans, conducting root cause analysis using advanced tools, and collaborating with design engineers. You will develop firmware and scripting for test automation, perform soldering, and support manufacturing with automated testing equipment. Proficiency in PCBA test fixture design, hardware debugging, scripting, electrical systems, PCBA design tools, and manufacturing processes is required. Familiarity with FPGA development is a plus. This is an onsite, full-time position in the electronics industry.

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented PCBA Test Engineer to join our innovative engineering team. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) used in cutting-edge electronic systems. Your expertise will drive the development and execution of comprehensive testing procedures, troubleshoot complex issues, and optimize manufacturing processes. Duties

  • Design, develop, and implement test plans and procedures for PCBAs, ensuring thorough coverage of electrical, mechanical, and functional specifications
  • Conduct root cause analysis on failed units using advanced debugging techniques and tools such as oscilloscopes, signal analyzers, and ohmmeters
  • Collaborate with design engineers to refine schematics, PCB layouts, and system design for manufacturability and testability
  • Utilize CAD software like AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, or SolidWorks to review and modify PCB layouts and mechanical enclosures
  • Develop firmware and scripting solutions in languages such as Python, Perl, or SystemVerilog to automate testing processes and data collection
  • Perform soldering on surface mount technology (SMT) components and mechanical assembly using precision tools to ensure quality standards are met
  • Support manufacturing by setting up programmable logic controllers (PLCs), vision inspection systems, and other automated testing equipment for production lines
  • Proficient in the design and development of PCBA FCT, ICT and other test fixture.

Skills

  • Proficiency in FPGA development, SystemVerilog, VHDL or similar hardware description languages for programmable logic design
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems including schematics reading, signal processing, and electrical engineering principles
  • Experience with PCB design tools such as CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit), schematic capture tools (Altium Designer), or similar platforms
  • Knowledge of system design involving SoC (System on Chip), ARM architectures, microcontrollers like Arduino or ARM-based boards
  • Ability to perform debugging using tools like oscilloscopes, ohmmeters, multimeters, and logic analyzers; excellent root cause analysis skills
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes including surface mount technology (SMT), soldering techniques, and NEC standards for electrical safety
  • Experience with MATLAB, Simulink for system modeling; C++, Python scripting for automation; firmware development skills
  • Mechanical knowledge related to enclosures design using CAD software such as Revit or SolidWorks; understanding of mechanical engineering principles
  • Skills in project scheduling to manage multiple testing phases efficiently; familiarity with NEC standards is a plus
  • Strong communication skills for cross-disciplinary collaboration among electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and manufacturing teams

Pay: $92,031.39 - $110,833.50 per year
