Job Summary - Why you’ll love this position

The Missouri Department of Mental Health (DMH), Division of Behavioral Health (DBH), seeks a Senior Data Analyst to join the Data Analytics team. This will be an in-office position domiciled at Central Office.

The base salary offered for this position is up to $76,368.24 annually, commensurate with education and experience. If the selected candidate is eligible for a pay differential, such as retention pay, the total salary may exceed what is listed in this posting.

Responsibilities - What you’ll do

The Data Analytics unit is an integral part of the Division’s efforts to enable evidence-based review of programs and services provided by the Department of Mental Health and its community partners. Data Analysts within the Division utilize data and information gathered from multiple data collection systems and external data sources to report on behavioral health programs. This position will assist Division staff in strategic planning discussions related to quality improvement, data integrity, and data governance to ensure that best practices of data collection methods and processing are implemented at all phases of implementation and maintenance. Duties include:

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute complex statistical programs to retrieve and aggregate data required for reporting associated with federal grants, budgetary needs, general data requests, and feedback reporting. Provide data to stakeholders at request.
  • Oversee and participate in the maintenance of ongoing reporting projects in support of Division initiatives.
  • Supervise intermediate and/or entry level analysts by providing direction on complex analyses, reviewing work for accuracy, and training staff when necessary. Provide technical and general supervision to direct reporting staff, as well as other analysts within the unit working on large projects, as needed.
  • In addition to providing the final reporting products, this position will perform data extraction, statistical analysis, policy related decision support and consultation, and assist with data related to initiatives within the Division of Behavioral Health.

Qualifications - All you need for success Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a social service or data analysis-related field, and 2-4 years of data analysis experience. Substitutions may be allowed. (4 or more years of progressive data analysis experience pertaining to mental health/substance use disorder programs/services may substitute).
  • Knowledge and skills related to data processes and database design.
  • Knowledge and skills related to coordinating work in a team-based setting.
  • Must have the ability to learn skills related to Microsoft SQL, SAS, Tableau, and Microsoft Reporting Services, and other tools used for data reporting.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be skilled in SQL and have experience with Microsoft Reporting Services and/or Tableau Prep/Tableau Desktop. SAS experience is also desirable. Knowledge of mental health services or healthcare data is preferred but not required.
