Role summary

The New Mexico Public Education Department seeks a Senior Data Analyst to manage, validate, document, and report on educational data. This role involves cleaning, merging, and aggregating large datasets, performing statistical analysis, and creating data visualizations. The analyst will become a subject matter expert on key performance indicators (KPIs) and independently lead research and reporting projects. Why does the job exist?
The Senior Data Analyst is responsible for data management, validation, documentation, and reporting.
The Senior Data Analyst follows requirements in the preparation of datasets for analysis, cleans, merges, and aggregates large administrative datasets,
implements workflows and performs statistical analysis and data visualization as needed.
The Senior Data Analyst is expected to become a subject area expert on the data structure, business rules, and real-world complexity of multiple KPIs.
The Senior Data Analyst is also expected to independently lead and complete research and/or reporting projects.
The Senior Data Analyst is required to communicate with stakeholders by email and phone in response to questions or requests, and may be asked to give
presentations to audiences of stakeholders.

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of experience directly related to the position in research, statistics, computer science, data analysis, accounting, auditing, finance, economics, business, public administration, budgeting, management, and/or systems analysis or related professional certification as determined by the hiring agency. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico's Driver's License.
Working Conditions
Office setting, exposure to Visual/Video Display terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and telephone usage with extended periods of sitting. Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
