Role Overview
The Junior Software Engineer designs, codes, tests, and debugs software applications under the guidance of senior developers. This role is responsible for learning the environment and codebase while contributing to the development, testing, and implementation of software updates on our IBMi platform. This includes maintaining DB2 database tables, creating queries to extract data, and ensuring the quality of all code changes.
Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain RPG, CL, and SQL code on the IBMi platform in accordance with business requirements
  • Unit test code changes to identify and resolve issues before handing off for QA testing
  • Troubleshoot existing code to identify root causes of system issues
  • Provide after-hours support when critical systems fail, including periodic primary on-call responsibilities
  • Document processes and procedures in Confluence for future reference
  • Track progress and hours worked in Jira to facilitate project tracking and reporting
  • Support internal customers with data extraction and usage from the core IBMi system
  • Participate in Disaster Recovery simulation exercises

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 0–2 years of professional experience, including internships, co-ops, or personal projects
