Role summary
Stripe is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for its Money as a Service (MaaS) organization, focused on making money programmable. This role involves designing, building, and maintaining large-scale systems and APIs that handle billions of money movement requests. The engineer will also debug critical production issues, mentor other engineers, and engage directly with users to shape product direction. The position requires strong backend and API skills, with occasional full-stack work. The ideal candidate has 10+ years of industry experience, strong coding abilities, and thrives in an autonomous, entrepreneurial environment. Money as a Service (MaaS) Money as a Service is a new org within Stripe which is all about making money programmable: funding, FX’ing, sending, spending. The Money as a Service (MaaS) teams build the APIs and product experience that allow Stripe users to perform these money management capabilities on Stripe globally.

What you’ll do
We’re looking for an engineer with strong backend and API skills but open to lean into full stack on occasion where necessary. As a Staff Engineer you will be responsible for working across 10+ teams providing direction, executing against the highest complexity workstreams and providing mentorship for other engineers.
