About The Role
The Lead Engineer position at GE Aerospace offers an exciting opportunity for experienced software professionals to lead the design, development, and testing of embedded control systems for aircraft engines. In this role, you will operate within a LEAN environment, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to achieve project goals while ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. You will be responsible for creating sophisticated open and closed-loop control software, utilizing your domain expertise to influence short-term project outcomes and contribute to long-term business growth. The role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving, innovation, and continuous improvement, with a focus on enhancing system performance, reliability, and software quality.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related STEM field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in software engineering
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, and MATLAB/Simulink
  • Experience with embedded systems, control theory, and signal processing
  • Knowledge of Windows and Unix/Linux based programming environments
  • Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. Government Security Clearance (U.S. citizenship required)
  • Preferred: Master’s Degree or PhD in Computer Science or related field
  • Preferred: Certified Scrum Master and/or Product Owner certification
  • Experience working on aerospace software projects and troubleshooting build issues
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and independently

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop open and closed-loop control systems and embedded software for aircraft engines, including both hardware and software components
  • Develop, maintain, and evolve embedded software using C/C++, Python, and MATLAB/Simulink in an agile environment
  • Conduct testing and validation of control systems to ensure compliance with performance, safety, and regulatory standards
  • Analyze engine test data to identify issues and develop effective software solutions
  • Utilize simulation tools to model engine behavior and predict performance under various conditions
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, eliminate redundancies, and promote technology reuse across teams
  • Prepare comprehensive technical documentation such as design specifications, test plans, and software reports
  • Collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams to integrate control systems with engine components
  • Ensure all software and control systems adhere to industry standards and regulatory requirements
  • Lead LEAN initiatives aimed at improving system reliability, performance, and software quality
  • Work with Product Line Leaders to translate customer requirements into detailed product specifications
  • Provide timely updates and communicate significant project developments to stakeholders
