About The Role
The Data Scientist role at Hershey is a strategic position focused on delivering advanced people analytics and predictive insights to support data-driven workforce decisions. This remote position involves developing sophisticated models and analytics solutions that enable HR and leadership teams to make informed, fair, and strategic choices regarding talent management, retention, and workforce planning. The successful candidate will translate complex people data into clear, actionable insights and compelling narratives that influence decision-making at the executive level. Collaborating closely with HR Centers of Excellence (COEs), leadership, and cross-functional teams, the Data Scientist will play a critical role in shaping the company's talent strategies through innovative data science practices and scalable analytics products.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in Posit, RConnect, RShiny, and GitLab for analytics application development and version control
- Excellent ability to communicate complex analytics concepts to non-technical audiences
- Proven skills in data storytelling, including creating clear visualizations, narratives, and strategic recommendations
- Demonstrated analytic rigor with experience in data validation, documentation, and model refinement
- Effective stakeholder advising and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in data science or analytics roles
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required; Master’s degree is preferred
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement advanced people analytics and predictive models to inform workforce planning, retention strategies, and talent decisions
- Translate complex data sets into strategic insights and actionable recommendations for HR leaders and executives
- Create executive-ready reports and storytelling that communicate workforce risks, opportunities, and trade-offs effectively
- Ensure analytic rigor through robust data validation, documentation, and continuous model improvement
- Partner with analytics application developers to design and deliver scalable dashboards and self-service analytics products
- Collaborate closely with HR COEs, leadership, and cross-functional teams to define questions, interpret results, and drive strategic actions
- Influence decision-makers by presenting insights through compelling visualizations and narratives
- Maintain strong data science practices and contribute to ongoing process improvements within the analytics team
