About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled MQ-25 Vehicle Management System (VMS) Software Lead Engineer to join our MQ-25 Vehicle Systems Software team located in Hazelwood, MO. This pivotal role involves leading the development, integration, and verification of complex avionics software for the MQ-25A Stingray, the world’s first operational carrier-based unmanned aircraft. The successful candidate will oversee the design and implementation of the Vehicle Management System Computer (VMSC) Operational Flight Program (OFP) for both Engineering Manufacturing and Development (EMD) and Obsolescence contracts. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a groundbreaking project that pioneers the integration of unmanned systems within carrier air wings, impacting future military aviation capabilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline or 15+ years of equivalent related experience
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in developing embedded real-time software
- At least 3 years of programming experience in Ada
- Minimum of 3 years of programming experience in C#
- At least 2 years of experience in verifying Software Engineering requirements
- 5+ years of experience leading small teams (10+ engineers) in embedded software projects
- Experience with DO-178, DO-254, or MIL-882 standards
- Proficiency with Green Hills compiler
- Ability to lead software research, development, and estimation activities
- Strong technical leadership, mentorship, and communication skills
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance
Responsibilities
- Lead activities to develop, document, and maintain complex software architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs for embedded systems
- Oversee the development and integration of software components into fully functional systems
- Create and execute software verification plans, test procedures, and test environments; document results to ensure compliance with requirements
- Manage and guide a team of engineers in developing code for Vehicle Management System Computer (VMSC) Tail Actuator Control Card
- Lead the development of black box tests for embedded software systems to ensure robustness and reliability
- Provide technical leadership for software projects, including supplier management and process deployment
- Lead research and development initiatives, including estimating activities and process improvements
- Serve as a subject matter expert in software domains, system-specific issues, and industry regulations
- Monitor and evaluate team and supplier performance to ensure adherence to project plans and standards
- Train, mentor, and develop team members to foster continuous improvement and technical excellence
- Represent the organization in technical discussions, proposals, and stakeholder communications
- Advise management and customers on advanced technical research and project status
