About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join Coinbase’s Identity and Access team. In this role, you will play a critical part in developing and optimizing systems that ensure the security and integrity of user accounts and assets. Your expertise will directly influence product strategies related to login, authentication, account recovery, and fraud prevention. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, and Design to analyze complex data sets, design experiments, and develop models that differentiate legitimate users from malicious actors. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quantitative analysis, statistical modeling, and machine learning, with a passion for applying data science to solve high-impact problems in fintech and crypto security. Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, or related discipline
- Minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience in data science, analytics, or a similar role
- Proficiency in SQL for data analysis and querying
- Strong programming skills in Python, including experience with data modeling and machine learning libraries
- Deep understanding of statistical concepts and practical application in A/B testing, causal inference, and ML models
- Experience driving impact through data analysis in a digital product environment with iterative development cycles
- Demonstrated ability to communicate insights clearly and effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to responsibly utilize generative AI tools and copilots, continuously learning and applying human-in-the-loop practices to improve workflow efficiency and output quality
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive analyses on product features to answer open-ended questions and provide strategic insights
- Design, execute, and guide experiments to measure the impact of product changes, including innovative methodologies for logged-out user scenarios
- Develop and maintain key metrics, dashboards, and reports to facilitate ongoing data-driven decision making
- Create and refine models to identify and differentiate between legitimate users and malicious actors, enhancing security protocols
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to influence product roadmap and security strategies through data insights
- Contribute to data infrastructure improvements to support scalable and efficient analysis
- Stay updated with industry best practices and emerging technologies in data science, security, and fintech
