About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our dynamic team at The Home Depot Canada. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines that organize and transform vast amounts of data to support analytics and strategic decision-making. Leveraging cloud technologies such as Google BigQuery, Python, and advanced AI tools, you will play a critical role in enhancing our data infrastructure and enabling data-driven insights across the organization. Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical/quantitative field
- 3-5 years of experience in data engineering or a related field
- Proficiency in SQL and Python programming languages
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform services and big data technologies such as BigQuery, Snowflake, or Redshift
- Knowledge of AI and machine learning tooling, including Vertex AI, Gemini, NotebookLM, and GitHub Copilot
- Experience building and maintaining complex ETL pipelines and designing stored procedures
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and large-scale data management
- Relevant technical certifications (preferred but not mandatory): Google Professional Data Engineer, AWS Certified Big Data - Specialty, Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes for both structured and unstructured data sources
- Build and optimize tables, views, and data models to support dashboards, self-service analytics, and reporting needs
- Leverage Google BigQuery, Python, and stored procedures to develop efficient data solutions and optimize complex queries
- Integrate advanced AI tools to automate workflows, enhance data insights, and build next-generation analytics capabilities
- Ensure data quality, governance, and high performance across large datasets through continuous monitoring and optimization
- Automate data processes to improve efficiency and maintain data integrity across the customer experience
- Identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements using modern data engineering frameworks and tools
- Collaborate with business teams, data analysts, and technology partners to deliver reliable, actionable data solutions
- Prepare data for reporting, dashboards, and scorecards, and support ad hoc data analysis requests
- Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational goals
