About The Role
As a Staff Data Scientist at SentiLink, you will play a pivotal role in developing our core products—advanced models that identify fraudsters and enhance our suite of financial risk solutions. You will be responsible for owning your domain, working on high-visibility projects that require deep domain expertise, critical thinking, and technical excellence. Your work will directly impact the company's ability to detect and prevent fraud, improve identity verification processes, and develop innovative products that serve our clients' needs. This role involves end-to-end data science responsibilities, including model development, analysis, and implementing production-ready code. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, risk operations, and product management to research new fraud types, develop features, and incorporate new data sources. The environment is fast-paced and dynamic, emphasizing practical solutions and domain understanding over theoretical ML advancements. You will have the opportunity to lead initiatives that drive business growth and operational efficiency, making a tangible difference in the financial technology landscape.
Qualifications

  • 6+ years of relevant work experience with a PhD or 8+ years with a Master’s degree in Data Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Computer Science, or related fields
  • Proven track record of solving complex, high-profile business problems using data science or machine learning solutions
  • Exceptional communication skills to present findings and strategies to senior management and stakeholders
  • Experience in end-to-end data science development, including planning, success metrics, solution development, and deployment
  • Strong practical knowledge of machine learning and statistical tools, with the ability to employ standard and state-of-the-art techniques
  • Experience writing production-quality code and tests in Python or similar languages
  • Ability to work independently and make data-driven decisions that influence business outcomes
  • Interest in developing deep domain expertise, particularly in fraud detection, identity solutions, or fintech sectors
  • Experience working in startup environments or fast-paced settings is highly preferred
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States and residency within the US

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize fraud detection models throughout their lifecycle, including data acquisition, feature engineering, training, experimentation, and deployment
  • Create foundational models to support SentiLink’s expanding suite of fraud and financial risk products
  • Research emerging fraud patterns and develop innovative products to enhance identity verification capabilities
  • Engage in iterative development, integrating new data sources and features to improve model accuracy and robustness
  • Write reliable, scalable, and production-ready code that supports real-time decision-making processes
  • Design and perform analyses to inform data acquisition strategies, product development, risk management, and marketing initiatives
  • Collaborate with engineering, risk operations, and data acquisition teams to ensure data quality, accessibility, and integrity
  • Present findings and insights to stakeholders, contributing to strategic decisions and product roadmaps
  • Stay current with advancements in machine learning and fraud detection techniques, applying relevant innovations to improve solutions
