About The Role
We are seeking a talented Data Engineer to join our team at Home Depot Canada. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing and building scalable data pipelines that organize, transform, and optimize vast amounts of data to support analytics and strategic decision-making. You will utilize cutting-edge tools such as Google BigQuery, Python, and advanced AI integrations to develop innovative solutions that drive business insights. This position requires a collaborative mindset, working closely with business teams, data analysts, and technology partners to translate complex requirements into efficient, reliable, and high-performance data systems. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field
  • 3-5 years of experience in data engineering or related roles
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python programming languages
  • Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services and big data technologies such as BigQuery, Snowflake, or Redshift
  • Familiarity with AI and machine learning tools like Vertex AI, Gemini, NotebookLM, and GitHub Copilot
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and ETL pipeline development
  • Relevant technical certifications (preferred), such as Google Professional Data Engineer, AWS Certified Big Data, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to innovation and automation
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to bridge technical and business perspectives
  • Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently and adapt to changing priorities

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes for structured and unstructured data
  • Build and optimize tables, views, and data transformations to support dashboards and self-service analytics
  • Leverage Google BigQuery, Python, and stored procedures to develop robust data solutions and optimize complex queries
  • Integrate advanced AI tools to automate workflows, enhance data solutions, and build next-generation analytics capabilities
  • Ensure data quality, governance, and high performance across large datasets
  • Automate processes to improve data accuracy and operational efficiency
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement strategies for continuous process improvement using modern data engineering frameworks
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, actionable data insights
  • Prepare data for reporting, dashboards, and ad hoc analysis, supporting business decision-making
  • Effectively communicate technical concepts and data constraints to non-technical stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational goals
